On-Site Training
Course 1: Instructor Training School
Canine Behavior Services of Colorado Instructor Training School (CS) is designed for the student who wants it all: from beginner instructor just getting started, to the long-time teacher and trainer looking for new knowledge, an infusion of ideas and a shot at enthusiasm—this is the continuing education course for you. Please visit our certification (link) page for more information on becoming a certified canine trainer.
Even though obedience instructors are not the ones at the end of the leash doing the work, they must understand how to train dogs and how to communicate dog training techniques and skills. The adage “Those who can, do; those who can’t, teach” does a great disservice to teachers including obedience instructors. In addition to knowledge of dog training, an obedience instructor needs to be a communicator. In other words, they do it all—train and teach.
Dr. Forto and his staff are all teachers, and while this course is not designed to teach you “our” way of canine training as the “only” way it will develop your critical thinking and provide you with information and knowledge to decide which method is best for you and an innovative approach to success for both you and your clients.
The Instructors Training Course (CS) delves in-depth into all aspects of teaching dog training; dog; student; instructor; training method; and instructional approach. It is not enough to know how to just train dogs—there is so much more to it.
